SAFETY & SCOPE
The adult in the room stays responsible.
Dixie Threadbook can organize a prompt; it cannot supervise a setting, assess a person, or replace local safeguarding, health, or emergency procedures.
Urgent concern: Stop the activity. Involve an appropriate trusted adult and use suitable local emergency, safeguarding, or professional resources outside the app. Dixie Threadbook is not monitored and cannot contact help.
FACILITATOR GATE
Before, during, and after
BEFOREPrepare the conditions
- Confirm supervision and local authorization.
- Check access needs without recording diagnoses in the app.
- Offer opt-out, observer, and low-sensory alternatives.
- Review materials, movement, place, transport, and weather outside the app.
- Know the setting’s safeguarding and emergency process.
DURINGWatch the room
- Keep participation voluntary and avoid forced disclosure.
- Use respectful language and multiple ways to contribute.
- Pause if conditions change or someone appears uncomfortable.
- Do not photograph, record, diagnose, or document people through the app.
- Keep adult follow-up outside a group discussion when appropriate.
AFTERClose responsibly
- Debrief the activity design rather than rating people.
- Clear local selections when they are no longer useful.
- Route concerns through authorized real-world processes.
- Do not copy sensitive details into ordinary correspondence.
- Review what access option should change next time.
STOP CONDITIONS
End or adapt the activity when
- Supervision or local authorization is unclear.
- A person withdraws consent or asks to stop.
- Physical, sensory, emotional, environmental, or transport conditions become unsafe.
- A prompt begins to invite private or distressing disclosure beyond the facilitator’s role.
- A concern requires a safeguarding, emergency, or professional response.
RESET IDEAS
Ordinary pauses only
Any pause, breathing, grounding, or reflection idea in the app is general educational content. It is not therapy, mental-health care, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis intervention.
Offer a quiet or observer role without demanding an explanation. If a health or safety issue is present, use qualified help outside the app.
DIGITAL BOUNDARY
No chat. No profiles. No direct messaging.
The app has no youth account, public post, follower system, participant directory, location sharing, adult-minor messaging, or incident-report form. Safeguarding records belong only in an authorized system chosen by the responsible setting.
QUICK CHECK
Six questions before “start”
- Who is the responsible adult?
- Can everyone choose a meaningful role or pass?
- Are access alternatives visible from the beginning?
- Are materials, movement, and place suitable today?
- What would make us pause or stop?
- Where will a real concern go outside this app?
